Xbox360 question for medal of honor game?

I have medal of honor tier 1. When try to access tier 1 mode, or multiplayer the message "your gamer profile does not have the permissions to access xbox live functionability" Whats going on? I just want to play the game that i paid for! Am using xbox live free.
